I bought this cross in Assisi during my college study abroad, with the intention of hanging it in the room I’d one day share with my husband. For a while that’s where it lived, just as planned. Now it hangs in a new room. New plans. New me. Same God.

Let’s just pretend, for one more moment, that summer isn’t over.⠀ .⠀ In the meantime, I am grateful for a season of sunshine, swimming, and smiles. It was a sweet one. ⠀ .⠀ Don’t worry, I’ll continue to spam your feed with beach pics. Just as certain- I’ll find new things to be grateful for in the season ahead. Hope you will too ⛱

This little nativity was a gift from my mother last year. . This year finds me in a new place, with a bit of a new perspective on a couple of things. The issue of safety, for one. The issue of anger with God, for two. The issue of where to start repairing that relationship, for three. . . . “Where does that leave me and God? It leaves me angry. It leaves me feeling like God is dangerous. Because I prayed novena after novena after novena, made sacrifice after sacrifice, and endless, endless, loops on my rosary. Because I journaled and prayed and reflected and talked and asked for prayers and guidance and felt like I was in a good place, I was doing the right things, I wasn’t even having sex! I was even using NFP! All that, and, guess what, I got hurt anyway.” . We’ve all been a little angry, a little hurt, a little alone.
